Interlux bottom paint

Spoke with a broker about a 34 ft. Tartan 3400 that is in fresh water with new interlux bottom paint (five coats) and was told that for salt water I would have to repaint the bottom with ablative paint. Any comments would be appreciated. Will this require removal of the interlux paint? Any idea of cost? Etc?

Thanks.

CalebD will become famous soon enough
If it is currently coated with a 'hard' paint you can put ablative paint right over the existing bottom paint. Do you know which flavor Interlux bottom paint is on there (there are many flavors)?

No one can give you an answer unless they know which paint is on now.

Find out and then check the compatibility chart at
yachtpaint.com - the official site of International and Interlux paints
and you can answer your own question.
