I wish I could charge by the cubic foot, but I think it would meet with resistance. The same for charging by the hour.
$20 per foot of length is about what I would charge, but I wouldn't normally charge for the 40 minute drive. I do start to charge for travel when the drive is an hour or longer.

Thank you for all of your comments. I have found a reputable surveyor who would charge $18 an hour. I think this is the best I am going to do.

MH - I just did a 36 footer on Lake Erie at $17ish a foot so I think you are in the ball park! Survey quality would also be a concern. I got good references from the yard and boat owners in the area.
