Trying to narrow down options - Help please!!!

Thank you to everyone for the great comments and suggestions in reply to my question - its really appreciated.
I''ll be out of town for a few days but will check for more posts when I return.
Its very encouraging to be able to draw on resource like this when being faced with such a daunting task as searching for the "right boat" amongst so many options.

Hunter 37 Cutter PHRF of 118 or so !?! I don''t think so. I would say its base is closer to 155 in most locations. Maybe you are confusing it with the regular Hunter37 rating. In Naraganset Bay (a fairly breezy location) an H37Cutter is rating a 168 Spinaker Class and 182 in the Non-Spinaker class.

I think they are nice comfortable boats, but with these cutters don''t expect any great speed in most conditions....like you said, don''t expect a rocket at all. I had an old "bathtub" Watkins 27 that could almost keep up to it.

If you decide you want a Catalina 36, there is one in our marina in northern Lake Michigan for sale, 1987, freshwater, excellent condition, ask is upper 50''s, can probably be bought for right around 50. Because of having been in the Great Lakes all its life, it will compare favorably condition-wise to a saltwater boat 6 to 7 years newer. I can put you in touch with the owners.
