Not only do insurers require a survey, but most marinas require insurance. The amount you spend on a survey will likely be the best investment you make. Pre survey the boat yourself to make sure it is worthy but do hire a qualified surveyor.

I misunderstood mpickering when he said $5000 for the C27. I thought he meant $5000 for Survey. I ended up getting a survey and the boat is in great shape. Thanks for all of your help and I look forward to being an active member of the community. I think i got a great deal on a solid boat and will post picks of her when I get a chance.
