Tanzer 7.5s: Considering Purchase

Looking at a well outfitted and restored Tanzer 7.5 ... any opinions? Performance/construction/suitability for small coastal cruiser (Puget/SanJuans/Canada).

We had one and it suited us just fine. The iron keel required some touch up each time we painted the bottom. I did break one of the side stay wires in a blow, but I used to take it out pretty regularly and sail across Saratoga Passage from Camano Island to Coupeville and back when it was blowing pretty good.

Tanzers in general have a good reputation for rugged coastal cruisers.. it's a look you have to like - somewhat different from the mainstream. As older boats all the usual cautions apply, of course.
