Help ID this boat

I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me ID this boat. I only have a couple of poor photos of this boat. I am hoping to get a few better pics but I don't know when I will get them. I am looking at purchasing the boat but the owner doesn't know what type it is. He bought the boat because he wanted to sail but ended up moving out west with no water to sail on.

Thanks,
-Rob

Can you get a profile shot of the boat from a bit higher up so the entire cabintop and sheer line are visible? Also, do you know the length, beam, etc. of the boat.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Sailingdog, I've requested some more pictures of the boat, but because the owner is across the country we are at the mercy of the marina where is it currently being stored. When I get the pictures I'll be sure to update this thread.

I do have the measurements on the boat though.
Length is 25'
Beam is 6'
and the owner states the draft is 3"

I know this is going to be hard with these pictures and I do appreciate the help.

QuickMick,

It does look very similar. The one this this boat does have is an engine well. I'm doing a google search right now to see if Oday's were made with engine well's but I'm getting a lot of "my engine is well..." and "well my engine...." results

Thanks for the tip at least I've got something to compare to now

check this out

SailboatData.com - sailboat database with specifications, drawings and photos, more than 8000 listings

says the 25' has beam of 8, draft 4.5 so i may be off base, but in any case the data site is useful. Then again, if the owner doesnt know what kind of boat he owns, his numbers may be off... lol

I'm beginning to wonder if the beam was miss measured. 6' seems small for a 25' boat. Also another important feature is that this boat has a shoal keel.

I'm taking a look through the boats on that site right now, thanks for the link.

6' is pretty narrow for a 25' boat. Most monohull sailboats are closer to 1:3 beam to LOA...so should be about 8' wide.

BTW, does the owner have a title? this would seem to be an easy question for him to awnser if he does regardless of the marina... if not (and you are thinking of buying it), he is probably going to have to do a title search anyway to get one for you... just a thought

also if he is in good standing with the marina, i would think he could call them and tell them you are coming to check it out?

Well the marina is about 5 hours away, which isn't too far to take a look but I am hoping to ID the boat and do some research on it before I head out to look it over.

I didn't find anything on the page that you posted QuickMick although the Oday is looking pretty good. I haven't found one with an engine well yet though......

sailingdog I wasn't sure on the ratio but common sense tells me 6' seems small, but I'm no expert and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night so.....

I'm going to keep looking and thanks for the help so far. At least I know what boat it isn't now
