Awww...it looks like a baby First 40

But seriously....I dont think you'll see many of these cruising after their race tenure is over, unlike prior generation Firsts. Twin outboard rudders like that would make things interesting

It's an interesting boat. They claim that having the mast further aft than normal allows the interior to be improved. It will be interesting to see in person. I've been told that this boat will be at Strictly Sail in Chicago and will definitely be taking a look at it.

I like what I see so far.
Personally though, I'm after a performance cruiser which I'm most likely to campaign long distance and the payload will be considerable, even though I'm a "less-is-more" type of sailor. I keep wondering how these performance boats will handle with such a load, and it almost pains me when I consider such a thing. I'm not worthy is what I'm feeling...

If you look at the hull design you are going to see that they are very diferent. This is a K design, the 35 and the 40 are Farr (the 35 and the 40 are very close on design).

This seems to me a more modern aproach than the one on the 40. Not saying that the 40 is not a very good boat (it is). The interior of this boat is also better designed. The 40 is kind of poor. I have heard that they are making a remake.

I don't see why you say that the boat is not going to be a good coastal cruiser. The outboard twin rudders seem an advantage to me and the interior looks very cosy.

Regards

Paulo

What is also interesting is that there will be 3 different interiors offered, ranging from very minimal and lightweight to something that is very cruising-oriented with all the bells and whistles. And something in between.
