Thank you for the help - Finally bought the boat

[ Not sure if it's the right place, but this particular board "Boat Review and Purchase" was critical in helping me find a boat, so I wanted to thank its members ]

Thank you all for your help in the past few months for referrals and information.

My girlfriend and I are the new owners of "Calypso", a Morgan 382 #161. Our plan is to sail her from the East Coast to the Bahamas, then to Central America, cross the Panama canal and go to the South Pacific islands. From there, we do not know yet, but we entertain the idea of an around the world cruise. We plan to depart in November 2011.

As she is currently in Florida, while we live in California, we are going to store her on the dry until next spring, when we will move to Florida to refit and equip her, and get to know her, before our departure.

It will be tough to wait until next Spring before to truly enjoy owning her, but in the meantime, we will have many questions on this board.

Cheers
Philippe & Erin

Nice looking cruising boat with lots of good kit there.

You might want to upgrade the wind genny though - that is an OLD 4 Winds with the mechanical overspeed regulator - the first time that thing kicks in you will have a heart attack.

Very pretty boat congratulations.

Just how does one afford to take off for that long?

Nice !!

Do you by chance need any crew ? I mean a third pair of hands is surely in order. I could learn spanish real quick and act as a translator, I'm handy in the galley (haven't burned water in a while) and I'm fantastic company...Just ask anyone around here !!

Seriously though, congrats on the purchase and good luck with your plans.

Thank you all for your kind words! It's very much appreciated.

We are excited by the trip, but we of course understand the challenges, both financial and logistic. We will go as far as we have fun, and stop when we can't go on anymore.

Cheers
