We're officially boat owners!

Well, we've gone and done it! We are now officially owners of a Hunter 40'. We closed yesterday. It is pretty hard to believe that it has actually happened!

Unfortunately, the boat is about 1200 miles away from me at the moment, which is killing me since I'm itching to get started on the various projects that we need to complete before heading south this fall. But in a few short weeks, we'll be headed back east to get started on everything.

Pretty exciting and pretty scary at the same time. We've talked to employers and told them we're leaving soon! VERY scary to walk away from income -- I hope my budgets I've put together are close enough!

Good for you...Pictures when possible..

"Go Simple...Go Large"

Relationships are everything to me..everything else in life are just tools to enhance them.

The purchase price of a boat is just the admittance fee to the dance...you still have to spend money on the girl...so court one with something going for her with pleasing and desirable character traits others desire as well... or you could find yourself in a disillusioned relationship contemplating an expensive divorce.

Cool Epic. Whats your plan? What do you have to all get ready?

Why, why, why?

Pictures are on the website (see link below), under "The Boat".

Mostly small items we need/want to add:
Tune up diesel/replace mixing elbow
Reinforce the upper rudder post attachment (little bit of water intrusion)
Touch up the iron keel
Convert to LPG
Add dingy davits
Supplemental power...

Some stuff we have to do right away, others can wait a bit.

Plan is to head south from the Bay around the typical Nov 1 time frame. Cruise ICW south and into Bahamas -- probably no further south than that for now. The whole trip is planned for 1 to 1.5 years (two winters would be great!) Maybe further into the Caribbean on the 2nd winter. But the plans are very flexible right now. It's all about the journey!!

Whee, Epic! Congratulations! (good feeling, good feeling...!)

That's like being born a few days apart; we closed on the 28th! Too cool! I will bookmark your blog (assuming that's what /sail will remain -- or tell us if you start up a Sailblogs blog).
