Irwin Citation 31 1985

Found an Irwin 31 shoal draft which is good for my local sailing on the lake. Looks very well equipped and in good shape am considering going to see it.

Are these known to be good boats? Ok to sail in light winds or require a lot to move?

How does this model compare to a C&C 29?

There are two very good Irwin Yahoo groups - if you get on one of them you can get a dozen first hand answers.

there are Yahoo Groups and the answers might be a bit biased, but the answers will be coming from the owners of the same boat your asking about.

Depends upon what you ask and who answers. If you ask about an Irwin Citation 34 I can tell you what I like, what I don't like and what I have been doing to turn her into a boat that I want her to be.

But yes - you will probably get better reviews from owners of the same boat. But they may also tell you what to look out for.

I once had an IRWIN 30 and voyaged between San Fransisco and Cartagena. Had NO major rigging or engine troubles ( other than water in the Mexican gasoline ) but the cabin sole is secured to the hull with pointy wood screws, not the recommended bolt & nut method.
