Need help/info on Irwin 23

I am considering buying a 74 Irwin 23 and am trolling for info on that boat.
The boat overall appears ok...but I am concerned about its transom setup,
(a cut out/open area) for engine placement. I am really concerned about the following seas on this type transom. If anyone owns one of these boats or has any experience with this type design...please shed some light my way concerning this particular boat, transom, and its overall handling characteristics. Thanks!
