a MFG 14 ft. 1968 Pintail...is this a good deal?

This is my first post.....someone on craigslist is selling a 14 ft, four seater, fiberglass '68 Pintail, in good condition with a decent trailer and new trolling motor, life jackets, extras. He only wants $350. Only one problem,,,,the mast is bent and functional. He says I could fix or replace it but it works.

Is this "buyer beware" or a great deal? How much to fix a mast? Can it be fixed? Can it be replaced inexpensively?

I'm not specifically knowledgeable about the Pintail, but used to own a Whip, another of SailMFG's boats, and found it to be quite good. I just sold the Whip, which was a 17 foot boat for $700, and didn't include anything extra other than wooden oars. Having the Pintail with the trolling motor and extras sounds like a good deal. I remember reading an article in either Good Old Boat or Small Craft Advisor about a guy who first adapted then made a new mast and it didn't seem like a big deal. There's also a great forum for those sailboats, SailMFG - Preserving the Legacy of SailMFG Sailboats, and you'll find lots of people willing to give you advice and information there.

I would go for it!
