Free sailing in NYC
Are you an avid sailor in the NYC area that is looking for a way to go sailing without spending a fortune?
Rocking the boat (www.rockingtheboat.org) is non-for-profit organization that teaches math and science to children in the Bronx through a program that includes traditional wooden boatbuilding.
This Summer we will be adding one day a week of sailing to our curriculam. On water sailing will be conducted on our recently donated Irwin 28 and Columbia 28.
We are currently accepting applications for volunteer sailing instructors who can commit to one afternoon per week. In exchange for this instructors willbe eligible to use the sailboats on the weekend.
Potential instructors should:
1) Have a strong sailing resume including basic sailboat hardware maint.
2) Work well with teens (applicant swill undergoe extensive background testing)
This is the first season for this program so some details are still not yet fully determined. Please call Ari Bayme at 646 521 8511 for more details.
