I would like to make an offer on a boat that needs a bottom job and could use a new outboard. Boat is in very good condition and sails are good/excellent. It is listed at nearly $10K.

What should I offer?

On the Olson class site there are two for sale around the same price, neither with a trailer... looks like the going rate as far as asking prices go..

It's not unusual to offer something somewhat less, you never know what will fly. Serious money and intent can get some great deals... so offer what you think is fair and be prepared to counter a counter.. Sounds like the gear is good, a newish motor, and decent sails so this isn't a case of picking up a project.

Also in that class of boat chances are the owner 'knows what he's got and what it's worth'.... this isn't going to be a '50% lowball success story', methinks...
