Hi Sailnet,
I've got a counteroffer in on a Cheoy Lee Offshore 41 in Santa Barbara, CA and I wanted to know if anyone has any strong feelings for or against this boat. It's had one owner since commissioning in 1979 and hasn't had much updating other than replacing the wooden masts with aluminum. It's listed on
Yachtworld now at $54000.
This isn't my first boat and I've liked what I've seen. GRP Fuel and water tanks, the only steel tank is the holding tank. There's plenty of room in the cockpit lockers to add extra storage shelves and cruising gear and a big battery bank.
Since it's pretty bare bones here are my basic plans to get ready for Mexico and beyond cruising:
Upgrade the battery bank to include 6 6V golf cart house batteries and a 1 starting battery
Solar/Wind Power w/ charge controller and inverter
Watermaker
Spinnaker/Gennaker from Minney's Yacht Surplus
Autopilot
New Cushions
Anyway, if you made it this far, let me know what you think, or if you know a good surveyor in Santa Barbara.
Fair Winds,
-Nate
