Any idea who makes this boat?

I've been looking at sailboats for awhile now and ran across this one not far from me. It needs some work but seems to be primarily cosmetic other than sails. It's a twin keel with the tiller coming up thru the hull in the cockpit. There's a round hatch over the v-birth. The owner said its 22 foot. I've searched high and low on sailboatdata and UK sites but have had no luck. Any ideas?

Look for the hull ID#. It will be on the stern on the upper starboard side just below the rub rail.

I found the hull id but it says its a Florida homemade according to the Coast Guard dwebsite that I searched for the manufacturer. I've checked the hull out pretty good and it seems solid. Would be nice if it's one of the old ones I've read about with little to no wood construction. It is dry as a bone inside. It was out exposed to the elements several months ago when I looked at it once before and was dry then as well. It looks to be a solid boat all in all. The main reason I'd like to find out the manufacturer is to make shopping for sails easier.

Makes no difference.. the sailmaker should measure the boat's rig either way.

So if I were to shop for good used sails how would I go about it? Measure the old sails? or measure the rigging? I've seen people selling used ones that state they came off of a 22' boat so should work with other 22' boats. That doesn't make since to me since the mast and boom could be different.

This is the ONLY other pic I have found that's exactly like it. The info on the site says that the only info they have on it is that it's a Sea Witch, a cousin to the Westerly. Thoughts?

Here are some forms to use as a guide to measuring your rig for the sails you need. Once you have these measurements you can compare them to other similar boats to judge their suitability.

FX Sails - Non-Furling Headsail Measurement

FX Sails - Mainsail Measurement

To compare rig dimensions with other similar boats, look for the following codes:

J = distance from headstay at deck to mast
I = distance from deck to max hoist/forestay tang on mast
P = distance from boom to max hoist of mainsail on mast
E = length of foot of sail along boom.

Here's a link to a good database of this data.. you won't likely find your boat here, but you can check for comparables once you've got your own measurements.

Those little bilge keelers are solid boats, not great performers but might be a good starter. Very popular in Europe where many harbours dry out regularly..

I hadn't really considered a bilge/twin keel boat until I saw this one. Probably because I didn't know what they were....LOL. The main reason I'm even considering it is the price. The wife and I have discussed whether or not to get a boat ready to sail or a project and both agreed on 'ready to sail'. If I could find sails at a good price I believe the rest wouldn't be too bad. A little paint and elbow grease and I believe we could go sailing. I have a trailer that I could probably convert pretty easily so that one less thing to worry about.
I did look at another a couple days ago. It was a Chrysler 22 and pretty much ready to go with a new main, sink/stove combo that slid under the cockpit seating (the wife would love), and a small kicker. The only thing that turned me off was blisters. Not sure how much of a problem they would be but there was a lot of them.
