Tayana V42 cabinet movement
Hello, this is my first post. Currently looking to purchase an aft cockpit V42. The boat appears well maintained but when sitting in the saloon, there is a gap between the top of the settee and the overhead cabinets. In more detail when looking at the cabinets the gap is about 3/16 to 1/4 of an inch at one end of the cabinet and zero at the opposite end. Its the inner ends of the cabinets which have the gaps, tapering to nothing at opposite end.
The rig was very much over tensioned and releasing has seen the gap reduce but not dissapear, its been 4 days or so.
My concern is that when re tensioning the rig (not over tensioning it) the gaps will open up again, especially once you start sailing. I also wondered
if there is a lot of creaking from the cabinet movement.
The chainplates are sound and the knees have also been sounded and appear fine also.
Any insight much appreciated.
