I own an old IOC 3/4 ton Camper nichiolson 33'' It wins lots of races here in the Carribean with minimal crew--Sometimes just me (a girl) and my 9 year old son! If you could find one of these boats i would snap it up. It also has a great cabin-we live aboard! Good luck in your search.

From what aspect of the design is the term "one tonner" derived? There is a S&S 38'' aluminum one tonner offered for sale in my area and I was planned on having a look at her this weekend. She was built by Minnefords Yard in NY and won the admirals cup in ''73.

Sasha_V will become famous soon enough
X-Yacht 3/4 and 1 ton

It is a measurement formula for racing classes(like formula 1 with cars or 12meter boats with Americas cup race yachts). It has nothing to do with the weight or footage of the boat (or at least not in a clear and logical way) but takes about twenty + different and obscure measurments into acount in order to generate an overall rating.

Go take a look at the boat.
