Went to a boat show yesterday and today

Brewers in the water spring show, in westbrook ct and Rhode Island.

Saw a lot of boat but this one struck me as very well priced.

Anyone looking a very well cared for boat for about 18 large what a deal, as least based on the competition.

Hopefully I've been here long enough so you all know I wouldn't use the forum to promote a boat I had any personal interest in.
Heard about it and saw it for the first time a couple hours ago.

Re: Went to a boat show yesterday and today

David,

Color me confused. I'd like to see the boat you discussed but I can't figure out which one it is. The link took me to Brewer's brokerage page rather than a single yacht. What make, length, and model interested you enough to comment? I tried keying in on 18 but it didn't help. There's nothing priced at $18K, although the Hunter 34 comes close at a shade under 19K, nothing so small as 18 feet, and nothing so large as 18 meters (59 feet).

Thanks,

Tom

I believe he was talking about the Hunter 34 for 18k.......Looks like a nice boat that kind of $'s . Not many pics guess they want you go for a drive. One thing that confused me was at the top of the write up it stated 5' 6" draft and at the bottom 4' 6"....which one is it? I always thought they had a very shallow draft.

So Dave you gonna go for it? I can help you sail her back to Madison.

Thanks Peter. Do you really think I would post it here with this bunch of sharks if I was going to make an offer.

Sadly I am still a couple of season away from my own boat. In the mean time I have the Bene 23s5 to sail this season if all goes well.

You sound like my old accountant.
The good news is, he's eligible for parole next year.

Re: Went to a boat show yesterday and today

I really wanted to see the Gulf Star (don't know why so don't ask) that was listed but he got pissed because their wasn't as much traffic as he wanted so the boat was gone.

It was mostly the owners on their boats. Don't know what is worse owners or brokers.

A couple of the owners were in their 80's and you could see they were heart broke about giving up their baby. One guy who had his boat listed for about 225 told me in passing he would take 200 and be delighted. So my question is what would he take and be pissed but still accept.
It is a brutal market out there.
The 350k Swan was like every used Swan I've ever seen, well equipped and well used.

Every boat I look at now I'm running a tally in my head about all the systems that I'll have to figure out and then eventually fix. The Swan was intimidating.
If I was ready today I would probably go for the 38' Sabre

But then the boat I sailed last year was sold a couple weeks ago for almost full asking price. 6,500, Catalina 25, OK condition, so what do I know.

Re: Went to a boat show yesterday and today

David

The Hunter looks reasonable but only a few pics.

The Swan is I think the first boat I have ever seen with 2 hardtops. And If I was the broker I would have made sure it was a bit neater before the pics. For 350k it looks a mess really.

I see what you mean about the Gulfstar - it shows well.
