Ferro cement hull on Ebay

I just saw a 40''ferro cement hull on Ebay listed under Parts and Accessories-sailboat. It is in So. Calif. Right now it is going for $1 with a little over 1 day to go. Thought somebody might be interested.

Ferro cement hull on Ebay

I''m a little late to join this thread, but I''ll offer a thought anyway... Ferro boats remind me of some of the girls I knew in high school. They have a bad reputation because everybody knows they have a bad reputation. Still, I have a hunch some guy is very happy with them. Does anyone know the outcome of that auction?

Ferro cement hull

When I was a kid (30+ years ago) I built ferro cement hulls in Oakland, California. At that time they were very much a "back yard" kind of thing. Most people were building them because they didn't require expensive equipment or a great deal of specialized skill. Most didn't get completed because the builders ran out of money or time or just lost interest.

I think their bad rep came from the fact that a lot of the projects just weren't done very well. In other words, I don't think there is anything wrong with the concept but there are a lot of bad ferro hulls out there.

Sure, but in six years the lucky auction winner has got the whole thing naturalized, with daffodils and rudbeckia and the prettiest little clumps of phlox around the border. Admit it, you'll never own a planter that cool. Not even if you spend two dollars, you won't.

The good news is, that hull is probably still exactly where it was, exactly as it was, and available for the same price. (VBG)
