Just make sure you can stand up in it for most of areas below deck. Bending over a lot, even at a small angle, can becoming very wearing, and take the novelty / shine off the romance of living on a boat pretty quickly. Good luck, and boy am I jealous!

Well "survey" values rarely have any relevance as to what you can sell a boat for, but more for what you will get out of the insurance company if it is a total loss. Just like an appraisal value on a house is not going to be accurate as far as the price it will sell for. That survey price seems quite high, but could well be an indicator that it is a good boat and if the rest of that survey was good, and your current survey looks good, then yes it sounds like a good deal. They look like they have a lot of room below for a 27 footer, as much as many 30 footers. It sure is a buyer's market out there. There does not seem to be much interest out there in smaller boats like this either.

Enjoy.

I agree with the others - it seems like a good deal if the survey is good.

If the boat has the amenities you are after I don't think it is too small.

I live on a 27' CS in Victoria and have for 3 years.

Well, survey came back with flying colors. Had it pulled out, owner changed zincs, not a single blister or evidence of one. I am am closing the deal this week! I can't wait.

I have to disagree with all who say go for it. I'm thinking not so good a deal and suggest you not buy it. By the way, what is the current owner's phone number? :-)

Congratulations! Enjoy your first boat. Sail the bottom paint off of her.

I'm still snickering over the idea of a good deal on a sailboat. I've gotten a good deal of enjoyment, a good deal of maintenance, a good deal of hassle and a good deal of satisfaction. They all came after I bought at any price. Best of luck.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
