PVC foam core

I''ve noticed that some boats have hulls with PVC foam core in the hull. Is this a closed cell foam core and is it any good? One boat that looked interesting described the hull as E glass/PVC foam core/vinylester construction.

PVC foams can be closed or open cell but most PVC foams used in boat building are closed cell. E glass/PVC foam core/vinylester construction is a reasonably nice way to build a boat.

Thanks for the response. The boat I was referring to is the new Columbia 30. Not sure if they have actually turned any of these out yet, but I like the design. I''m curious to see the finished product. Rob
