"ocean, offshore ,north america to caribbean act."

A Hunter can and did do that. Pick your weather.

Check out the Sequitur blog
Sequitur
This is a Hunter that rounded the Horn. And it is a great read. The point being made is that any boat can be ocean capable IF it is handled well and the weather is good. That why he said "pick your weather". Every boat is in danger if the weather is bad enough. I am not looking at Irwins myself, but there is a bunch of them out there and sailing in the Carribean right now. Just be mindful of the weather you will be sailing through.

The Bahamas and El Caribe are essentially what Irwins were built for.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

I expect you've also heard bad things about Irwins, Morgans, Beneteaus, Catalinas, Columbias, Jeanneaus - basically ANY volume production boat.

Sailors LOVE to talk trash about productions boats, especially ones they have no first hand experience of.

Take a look at how many 30 - 40 - 50 year old ones are still sailing and how many have crossed oceans - that's the "rest of the story".
