Beetle Cat Alternative?

My family has a 1948 Beetle Cat that has been our beloved sailboat for nearly 65 years. It has reached the end of its life and we need to replace it in the next year or so. If you are unfamilar with Beetle Cats I suggest checking out the Beetle Boat Shop web site.

I'd buy another Beetle Cat but for two problems. First, they are wooden boats and I'm tired of wooden boat maintenance. Second, they are quite expensive. Thus, I am looking for alternatives.

The first thing I found is the Barnstable Cat, a Beetle Cat clone with a fiberglass hull. This boat solves problem one, but not problem two.

So here's what I'm looking for:

12'-16' length
Large open cockpit with seating for at least four adults. Six even better.
Fiberglass construction.
Beachable.
Single sail rig.
Less than $15K

Suggestions appreciated.

Have you looked at the Arey's Pond Catboats? I am in the market for a boat and have run across a few in your price range...

Re: Beetle Cat Alternative?

No, my boat restoration days are over. But, you could post photos, maybe look for documentation unless you already have it. You could possibly talk it up over on the wooden boat forum too.
