poor boy haul out (or, what to look for in a trailer?)

the boat: 19'' keel boat. (keel being a huge 2'')

The car: 70''s volvo 4 banger (dont worry, I only want to bring it down the street to work on it and drop it back in the water.)

The trailer?

Suggestions?
What should I look for?
How much should I expect to spend for a decent one?

Thanks :)

If it''s fixed keel, you probably won''t be able to employ most used powerboat trailers without some modification (that''s the nice thing about centerboard boats, roller or bunk trailers can often be used). Sounds like your displacement is low enough to go single axle, which will definitely keep the cost down. Ramping with a four banger might be challenging. I''ve towed a Hobie 16 (600 lbs boat + trailer) with a 1.5 liter Honda (88 HP), but if you''re looking at much over 1000 lbs. displacement plus another 4 or 500 for the trailer, you''ll need to be very careful of your clutch or auto trans using a ramp. Plus you might need an extender to float it off (fixed keel).
