Buy then sell in Europe?

My dream is to take 3 months to explore the canals from Holland to France. Hiring a boat for this length of time is out of my budget so I was thinking of buying a small boat in the Netherlands for under 10,000 euros and then selling it in France somewhere after 3 months of cruising. I'm really only after something with a reliable engine that can sleep 2.

As a non-European I was wondering if this idea is crazy and if I am likely to drown in a sea of paperwork and red tape when I buy and sell the boat?

Re: Buy then sell in Europe?

What is your nationality and where were you thinking of registering the boat? Assuming you are a non eu citizen then I think French registration is not possible but dutch may be.

See CLICKY FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THIS.

Also you need to be aware of the gotcha implicit in the schengen visa max of 90 days in any 180.
