C&C 26' Factory Manual specifications

There seems to be a great deal of confusion and misinformation regarding the C&C 26 specs. I have just purchased a C&C 26 which fortunately came complete with it's original Owners Manual binder, drawings and more.

My C&C 26 came with a Yammar SVE 8 Diesel engine which according to the manual was only available for the C&C 26. I am listing below the specs as listed and shown in the manual.

LENGTH O.A. 26' 4"
LENGTH W.L 20' 1"
BEAM 10' 0"
DRAFT 4' 7"
DISPLACEMENT 5200 LBS
BALLAST 2000 LBS

C&C made a couple different models of the 26 by the look in the pic you have the older 26 which first came out in 1976 the later one was called the Wave 26 and came out in the mid 80's. different boat

Yes of course C&C made several versions of their 26' -the original 26' -4" - then came the 26' Encounter and then the 26' Wave.- but unless they custom build for the same model years the lengths, draft etc to individual orders -- (which I doubt) --- the posted specs seem to differ --

For the record I posted the specs for the early C&C 26 as shown in it's factory for 1977 owners manual.

I have a 1978 C&C 26' Encounter very well built boat. Info; 26'4" LWL 20'6" Beam 10' Draft 3'11" Dist; 6100lbs Ballast 2470. Kinda 'tender' to start, and will 'round up' in a heart beat, but easy to sail. Mine calls for a YSB-8, which is a horizontal eng; but somewhere someone changed it to a SV which is a vertical end.

I have just changed the engine oil in my Yammar SB8 diesel but could not locate the oil filter - does it perhaps not have one?

It doesn't. At least mine doesn't. Looking at the front of the eng, there is a lever on the left side that you turn which is suppose to 'clean' the filter screen. It is best to do this right before you change the oil, when the eng is hot.
