I live in the Detroit area and am new to sailing. Looking for weekend destinations around this area.

Put-In-Bay in Lake Erie is a personal favorite of mine. It can take awhile to get to, depending on where in the metro area you''re starting from, but it is a fun place to visit.

Depends where you are departing from. If St. Clair, you''ve got an eight hour trip upriver to lake Huron, or about the same to return from Lake Erie. Both sort of count out a weekend trip.
Some folks on St. Clair visit Canada, either Belle River or the Thames. Not long trips, but easily done in a weekend.
