We finally did it?

Hi all,

Well, we finally did it! After a year of searching we are finally going to purchase our first sailboat. This Wednesday we meet the surveyor and will go from there.
We/I have asked questions here about several different boats and general sailing questions and want to THANK all of you who took the time to reply.

Our new purchase is a 1981 Halman Horizon 27, Yanmar Deisel, wheel steering and including everything we need to start our new adventure in sailing. Maybe not the biggest vessel, but we just love what it offers and with some minor cosmetic changes it will be our new home on the water. Not crazy about the name "Chellah" but we can change that too, although most say...don't?

I wish there would of been more folks to offer information about the Halman, but not many were produced.

Anyway, thanks again and happy sailing to all.

Cheers,

Ron

Re: We finally did it?

Congratulations! I think 27 ft is a great size for a first boat. Small enough to be manageable but big enough to be comfortable on long trips and in harsh weather.

One word of caution: if you are just now meeting with the surveyor, you may need to remind yourself of the option to pass this one up if something is not right.

Good luck!

Congrast! i have admired halman horizons for a while, and that one in particular. It looks like you have gotten a solid boat at a good value.
