I think I have found what I want

I really like the looks and condition of this boat. Length is close to what i want and seems to have all the basic requirements i have been looking for. I will be sailing around Tampa Bay and out into the gulf for weekend trips. Should be able to singlehand her easily enough and based on size could accommodate a few guests. Inboard diesel is also a plus. Most i have seen for sale have a trailer with them but this one does not. Will be going to look at it this weekend. Any thoughts on price would be appreciated along with things to look for that may be problematic. All reviews i have read on this boat have been mostly favorable. Any reason for me not to consider buying it?

Agree. O'Day built a solid boat. Looks like a nice boat, seems to be well-maintained. Get a survey to help make sure you don't get burned on the big stuff (engine, delamination of deck) and if OK, go for it.

Nice!.... Usual things to check, as mentioned above, have a good look at the "carpet" on the hull sides for evidence of moisture and mold. Looks pretty good in the listing..

Well I bought a 76 3 years ago for $10,000 with a trailer. It was in good shape the trailer newer and I live where not many sailboat available. This one looks in better shape than mine was. So baring any major problems ,rotten decks or bulkheads ect.,not to bad a price. I like the winch on the cabin top and if you buy it I want pics of Bimini.

The cockpits are small but this is because the cabins are made bigger. Makes it nice for over night or longer stays. Sails better with a genoa then a #3jib. I have an outboard. With out the lazerette storage I would be at a loss.

Things to look at. Leaky chain plates and the rotten bulkheads that go with them. Wire to rope halyards (personal preferences). Bow roller. I don't have one and can't find away to put one on without major rework. All I can think of other then the stuff any sailboat needs to be looked at.

The boat looks like someone has been taking good care of it in the pictures - which is worth something.

I know 2 people who now have O 25's and are quite happy with them. O'Day made a fin keel version, center board version and a tall mast version. Do you know which one this is?
I'd think for the Tampa area and the Gulf you'd want the centerboard version.

I was wondering the same thing. The ad does not seem to mention the engine. I believe most of these came with an OMC Zephyr sail drive. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of before you make take the plunge.

It's a fun boat to sail and easy enough to trailer/rig with two fit people.

It is the keel/cb version. Anyone know the weight of the centerboard? Wondering how much of the ballast might be from the cb, or if it is mostly in the keel and the cb is just fiberglass or metal.

With older boats I think a caring owner is a HUGE plus and this boat looks well cared for.
