My buddy is turning a Halman 20 into a trawler with hydraulic drive. Looks like something built by Mattel

Kinda cute in a disconcerting sort of way. Hydraulic Drive? An electric motor driving a hydraulic pump which drives a hydraulic motor which drives a propshaft ? Or am I overthinking this?

Yoiu got it pretty much right except its a Yanmar 3YM30 driving every thing else.
