Re: Albin Nibus 42.. I like!

Very nice boat.

I remember looking at these when we were last shopping. We did not like the huge bridge-deck.

As for this listing, why is the broker bragging about the engine being rebuilt in 1997? That is 16 years old. The same number of years the original engine lasted.

Re: Albin Nibus 42.. I like!

One of my all time favourite designs - Kaufman is an artist. They look like a Swan for cheap. I think they would be better offshore than as a coastal cruiser - that companionway would get old pretty fast alongshore.

For what it's worth, John Kretschmer had one as his personal boat.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

Re: Albin Nibus 42.. I like!

Our Choate 40 was a Kaufman design.. loved that boat despite the IOR lineage. Lots of 'good looking' Kaufman designs out there. including a couple of Skyes, the swannish-looking CT 47.

Re: Albin Nibus 42.. I like!

Actually, the Albin Nimbus is a Kaufman and Ladd design. The Kaufman in question is Mike Kaufman and not Scott Kaufman. And if you like the Nimbs, you might also look at the Kalik 40 or 44.

Thanks all! I found another. 1981 Albin Nimbus Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com
There doesn't seem to be allot of the out there. Looking at the Hatch companion way does look VERY inconvenient, teak decks on this one.. Nice inside though.

Re: Albin Nibus 42.. I like!

The boat in Cambridge is a nice buy (will sell for less) and overall serviceable. Her weak point is the teak decks. Water is under the teak in spots. Time for the teak to come off
