Aussie buying in the US

Hi
I am an Australian citizen living in Brisbane Oz, and am currently looking at the possibility of buying a yacht in the US and sailing it accross the Pacific to Australia. Dose anyone have any experience on satisfying the US authorities to allow me to do this.

Thank you Michael

Only problem I can forsee is Documentation/registration, you can''t document with federal gov. because you must be a citizen. You will be able to register it in the state of purchase because they just want the money. Now I''m not sure you will need to register here since you will be taking the boat home but you will need something for the trip. I would hope you can somehow register in Oz from here (US).

Are links to various brokers associations on west coast, suggest you E-mail & inquire about what you need to do.

Hi
You will have to get Australian Registration before leaving the US. It is illegal for an Australian citizen to sail a boat they own out of a foreign country with out it. Once you have it you won''t have to worry about American registration rules.
