Oceanic 36 Cutter-Tayana by another name?

Any one heard of a design with this name? Looks a lot like a Tayana-I'm looking for my next live aboard cruiser and trying to research this boat. Google yields nothing on an Oceanic 36, but there is lots out there on Tayanas.

Re: Oceanic 36 Cutter-Tayana by another name?

If I remember right, the Oceanic 36 is a knock-off of the Hans Christian 36/Union Polaris 36 built by the Mao Ta yard and therefore has links to Bob Perry and the T37.

I'm willing to bet we can get the full history if Jeff H or Bob find their way to this thread.

I know nothing about that boat. I don't know the yard or the origin of the design. But I do know it is not mine.

Thanks Bob, that at least clears up that rumor. After a little digging, I found a thread on a Hans Christian board that led me to believe the boat had some link to you or your design.

kwalt:
There are lots of rumors and they are seldom true. People like to use my name to give cred to a boat that has no designer of record.
