Ericson 27 H.I.N.?

Hi,
We are still looking at this 1973 Ericson 27 and just read thru the marine survey that was completed October, 2010. At that time it was still in the water and so a sea trial was completed. It was then removed for the winter, re-launched in the spring of 2011 and sailed that season. In 2012 it remained on the hard as the couple went thru marital issues and thus...it's for sale.
The marine survey was good and I would feel comfortable with a purchase? One thing that seems odd, but must be true is the noted HIN number?
"MEZH915***73"
Does this number look right to those of you with a 1973 Ericson 27? Please let me know.
Cheers and thanks!

The HIN is embossed on the transom . . . sometimes hard to find due to coats of paint etc. but it's there . . .check and compare. I see you made it to ericsonyachts.org! YEAH! Keep watch for posts over there, very helpful group . . . see ya round the hood . . .

The Hull Identification Number (HIN) identifies the maker/manufacturer (MIC or Manufacturers Identification Code), the Hull number and the date of manufacture. The Ericson boats have an MIC Code of either CJV, ERY or EUB depending upon factory locale. The MIC MEZ is a Maine designator for a home built boat which makes no sense unless the yacht was salvaged and completely reconstructed and so designated as a Home Built. For more information on HIN's see Hull ID Numbers - BoatSafe.com

Re: Ericson 27 H.I.N.?

Thanks for the help and comments. I'm going again today to look at the boat and will search for more identification. I've also joined the Ericsonyachts.org site and looking forward to meeting the folks there as well as here. All of these sites are amazing and welcoming!
Cheers,
