jeanneau deck problem

Im thinking of purchasing a 1985 jeanneau 45 sunkiss Ive had a survey done and the results where good untill the surveror found that the deck had a lot of moisture from the chain locker back to the cockpit.I found out that the yacht had previousley had a teak deck which had been removed and where the screws had been hadnt been repaired properly.the suveyor suggested that the core betwen the deck and the inner skin,which I think is bolsa has to be removed ,replaced and then a new deck applied.
What I would like to know is ,has any body had a similar problem and what is the best cure,and will this affect the strength of the yacht or should I just walk away?

You had emailed me about this and I sent back a reply but I did not realize that the boat previously had a teak deck. I do not know what Jeaneau''s practice was, but most manufacturers use plywood cores when they build a teak deck. If that is the case, the problem can be a lot worse than on a balsa cored deck since plywood tends to rot more quickly since the plys carry the moisture in all directions from a leak. Run, don''t walk, the other way from this boat.
