Islader Freeport vs Morgan OI

Considering a liveaboard on Florida''s East coast. I''''ve been looking at the Morgan O/I for the amount of space they provide as well as the shallow draft. I understand they are slow and do not point well. A broker said I might want to consider the Freeport. Does anyone have experience with them? I would like to have opinions on both. Besides living aboard we would like to cruise the ICW, Bahamas, Keys and eventually the Virgin Islands. Both boats seem to fall into the budget of about $80,000

Do you mean an Islander Freeport 36 or 41? They are very different boats. We cruised and lived aboard the Bob Perry designed 36.
An outstanding boat for a couple.

We went out on someone''s Islander Freeport 41. Nice aft cabin that sailed poorly.

Dave, the Perry-designed Freeport 36 came in two layouts that I''ve seen, they sailed well and their layouts were quite functional for that era...and even today. Construction was overall good. If planning to sail offshore, avoid the layout with the forward head. If living aboard, OTOH it may be ideal.

The OI models do not measure up in quality of finish, functionality of layout nor in sailing ability IMO.

I was, at first, trying to compare the Morgan 41 OI to the Islander Freeport 41. But I think I''m more interested in the Freeport 41 vs the Morgan 43. Any comparisons would be greatly appreciated. Again, for a liveaboard on Florida''s East coast with trips to the Keys and Bahamas.
