Certainly nothing wrong with the choice of maple. Refreshing after all the teak.

Those sinks are a pain to keep clean in a house.

Maple
 
Nothing wrong with maple but it looks like they used trim materials meant to be painted and not stained. Different color of wood jointed together etc. The boards on the doors were made so the colors were more symmetrical but?
Maybe it's the "new thing." Sorry if I'm not up on the latest design trends.
