22 Rudder

During the last Golden Gate Yacht Club friday night race, the rudder of my 22, hull #171 "fell off". The shaft broke. Has this ever happened to any of you? I have found a company in Southern California who will build me a new rudder if I have some specs. I think what is really criical is the angle between the rudder and the hull. I have had the boat for over 30 years and nothing like this has ever happened!
