Bristol 40

Does anyone know the height of mast on a Bristol 40 sloop? I'll be sailing to the Chesapeake and would like to use the "cut" in Cape May to the Delaware. The fixed bridges are 55'.
Thanks Bob

The "P" in the sail plan is 45.5 so my guess is you'll be fine uner 55'.

for what it's worth, I have a Bristol 43.3 and the mast is 59.5' at the crain. May be you should get a 100' tape and use the main hal. to pull it up and measure it just to be sure....

My 1969 Bristol 39, which is the same as the 40 has a stick that measures 51 feet. I'm guessing when stepped, the height above the water is on the order of 49-50 feet.

Would anyone with the relative experience care to comment on the differences between the Bristol 40 and Bristol 38? (i was just told by someone in the industry that the LH38's extra ~2800lbs over the Bristol 38 is due to the LH's more elaborate interior, and a heavier mast.)

Thanks in advance.
