Bristol 30 hull ID

Hi everybody, I recently aquired a 1972 Bristol 30. State of Texas requires hull ID rubbing to register/ title. I've looked all over the transom which is where I would think it should be (as well as the sides and interior). Anybody with knowledge of Bristol's have any suggestions? Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Re: Bristol 30 hull ID

Congrats on the boat!

There is a very active Yahoo Group for Bristol owners that you could try. I've found everyone to be very helpful. Even if they can't help to solve this particular issue, it's a good group to get familiar with.

Good luck.

1972 is prior to when hull id's were required. Well, they were implemented at the end of 72. You probably don't have one.

Re: Bristol 30 hull ID

Bristols typically have a brass or aluminum plaque with the hull number on it. The plaque was generally mounted in the cockpit or in the companionway on the beam over the ladder. This will not be the same as HIN (VIN) and will generally only be a two digit number.

Re: Bristol 30 hull ID

On my 31.1 it's on the transom, right at the top.

Suggestion : if you can't find it, get a plate made with the number on, bolt it to the hull, and take a rubbing of it.

Re: Bristol 30 hull ID

Thanks all for the info. Never did find anything. MarkSF maybe yours the best idea. Went to TX parks and wildlife today, they say only option to bring boat to their office on Thursdays, game warden will inspect and assign number. Bring a 30 ft w/ 5' 3" fixed keel sailboat to their office????

Re: Bristol 30 hull ID

I know this is an old thread, but Bristol stopped installing the round hull number plaques in 1973. My plaque was missing when the boat was bought in 1970. I just finalized a reproduction of the plaque in bronze. The original plaques are metalized plastic.

I just posted the ordering info in the sailnet/bristol group. Bristol Yachts Hull ID plaque reproduction
