We have been changing our boat and have become involved in the heavy/light displacement debate! What view did you come to and why?
Ian Penrose
Sue and Larry respond:
Dear Ian,
It is our view that most moderate to light displacement cruising boats built today are constructed using technology that many "crusty old sea captains" simply fail to grasp. Things in life evolve, and many of the world's top boat builders and designers work together to build good, safe, and more fun to sail boats.
Our experience in our last boat, a Beneteau 46, was only positive. We sailed faster, kept closer to the wind, and reached our destination many hours or days ahead of older, slower boats.
Enjoy your new boat.
Regards,
Sue & Larry
