CSY for cruising?

We''re considering a 6''6" draft 44'' CSY Cutter for offshore cruising. Any knowledeable insights, comments, or advice would be appreciated.

If you go to:

you will find the main owners association web site above. A fair amount of activity there. I can''t think of anyone on that list that won''t tell you how great the boat is.

It is not a high performance craft but they are exceptionally comfortable and can take a lot of abuse. Most were made in the late 1970''s and very early 1980''s. Expect to pay anywhere from $79K for one that needs work to just over $100K or more for one that may not need a lot. Personally I would look at the 44 deep draft walk over boats. The walk through''s do seem better for cold weather.

They are a popular cruising boat with the folks that own them. I have a CSY 33 which is basically a 44 with the stern cabin cut off.
