These are often forgotten nice sailing little boats. They were actually designed as MORC race boats and were quite fast for their day. The keel centerboard arrangement gave them good performance upwind with the board down and good performance (for their day) downwind with the board and thier masthead spinnakers up. All that and the ability to slip into shallower water than a deeper fin would permit.

They also had a nice interior for a boat this size. When I lived in Savannah I had a friend who actually lived on one.

I have also heard that they had problems with their Centerboard penant system. If I remember correctly, the centerboard penant was attached to a rod that passed through a packing gland. Over time the rods would give up the ghost allowing the CB to drop. If I remember correctly these were typically replaced with a SS rod that had a longer lifespand than the original.
