J 37

Hello

As the current owners of a Pearson 323 we (wife and 2 1/2 year old) are looking to step up to a new (to us) boat. Through some research I have stumbled upon the J37 and J37C (diff engine location etc..). Wondering if anyone has or is sailing one of these boats and what your thoughts are ?. Due to the limited capabilities of the 323 with respect to speed and ability to point, we wind up doing a lot of motor sailing ugh....with a growing familty we could also use a little more space. We are mostly bay type sailors with most of our time spent in Buzzards Bay and Vineyard Sound.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated (mostly if this boat can be used effectively as a performance cruiser)

Thanks so much !!

Pete

J 37

I have always liked these boats. They offer a reasonably comfortable interior layout (although the aft cabin is nothing to write home about) and deck plan, good sailing gear and very good perforance. In stock form, they are a little shy on fuel and water tankage. The additional 100 seconds a mile speed and greatly improved light air performance should be a real revelation. It in your area it should greatly add to the number of sailing vs motoring hours and your ability to go to places that you would previously have considered out of range for a weekend.

I am also interested in the J37. Looked at one recently, liked the layout and interoir, deck was well laid out, was impressed with the large cockpit locker. Which model has the motor mounted under table in main salon. Access to engine is amazing, feel it could be a bit noisy. Have heard of issues with mount and stringer problems associated with this set up. would like any additional feedback, as it is a boat I am considering along with a C&C35 MkIII and a C&C 34 plus.
