Boat made in Canada?
Can anyone mention a few good solid boats which were made in Canada?

Lots of good Canadian boats out there. The answer depends on what kind/size or boat you're after. Typical Canadian mainstream brands include older C&Cs, CS (Canadian Sailcraft), Aloha, Mirage, Tanzer, Ontario Yachts (builders of Vikings, Ontarios), Hinterhoeller (Niagara, Nonsuch) and on the west coast, Fraser, Coast, Spencer, some Cooper models, Sceptre, Dash, Martin Yachts, Hotfoot, the list goes on.
Not all of these are still in production, of course, but many examples exist on the used boat market.

Whoa, you know the Canadian boats  . I did not realize that Canada makes so many. I am aiming for a 28 to 34 footer that will hold up well in the storm. The areas are in Lake Erie or Ontario (Buffalo). It will be nice if I can get one that is 1980 or newer.
I will be sailing single-handed in Chesapeake Bay a lot, but my heart longs for blue water, or at least a lot of long distance coastal water (Cape May to NYC to Maine etc.)
I am no longer a young man, so I can't gradually move from small to big. |

Don't forget the Bayfields and Gozzards! Both beautiful and seaworthy boats...Ted Gozzard knows how to build a pretty vessel.

A CS33 shoal draft would be ideal for you. Lots of them around.

Also look at the Ontario 28 & 32, Mirage 33/35, C&C 32.

If you are looking for a good coastal cruiser, I also suggest the Ontario 32 as a well designed and built boat. If you are seriously considering going offshore, don't forget the Contessa 32 by JJ Taylor.

It is going to make me quite busy this weekend to check out the these boat on Yachtworld, etc...... to see which is my liking.
John, thanks for link. It seems have more listing than Yachtworld in the ON.
Two follow up questions.
1. Given the fact that our Canidian friends often pay more consumer products than us. Just woner if their used boats cost more too? Anyone have any comments?
2. Is it difficult to bring a Canidian boat into U.S. for register in the States?
