J/27

I'm new to this forum. I had a J/22 years ago (before kids) and am looking into get back into sailing at a nearby lake in North Carolina. I'm thinking about something like a J/27 which I think I can find used. The Colgate 26 is also appealing but would probably have to buy it new.

Is there anything in particular that I should look out for on a used J/27?
Thanks>

colgate 26

finding a used Colgate is not as hard as you think. Call Offshore sailing School as they use the Colgate as training boats (and are owned by Steve and Doris Colgate!!) thery turn their boats over fairly fast (and in great shape) My friend at my YC purchased his Colgate that way.....great boat for daysailing and PHRF racing. There's not a big one design fleet but if you're not into racing that's no biggie. Stable, fast, and comfy (BIG cockpit!!!)

As I am a J Boat sailor , I can't say anything terribly bad about the J27 . Lightweight, fast, points very well and is easy to handle if you've already sailed on a J22.

good luck
