Bavaria

I am going to look at a 1984 30'' Bavaria at the end of the month and need all the information I can get on it and have not been able to find any. I just joined Sailnet tonight and have read thru all of the Bavaria discussions. My wife and I chartered a 34 Bavaria on our honeymoon and loved it. We were impressed by the speed of the boat as we did a little over 7 knots with a full load, pulling a dinghy. Anyway, does anyone out there have any information good, bad or ugly?

Bavaria

I have not been impressed with the construction on the Bavarias. These are obviously mass production boats that are trying to compete in the same market as the Beneteaus, Hunters and Catalinas. While on the surface these are pretty nice looking boats, when you get into the nitty gritty, I see them as a step down from the Beneteaus or present day Hunters. The problem in my mind is that their prices do not accurately reflect this.

Hey 2sheets and welcome, I have a bavaria of the same vintage you are looking at and I love mine. They are very popular all over the world including Australia. I am going to Sail my 960 from NC to Sydney next year so I hope Jeff H is a little off the mark.

Cptmick-

Any reason you're replying to a thread that is OVER SIX YEARS OLD???? I'm pretty sure that 2Sheets doesn't care one way or the other any longer. Either he bought the boat and loves it....or bought the boat and hated it and sold it... or didn't like the boat enough to buy the boat.

Please check the dates on threads before replying to them. Also, I'd recommend you read the post in my signature to help you get the most out of sailnet. Welcome to the asylum.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
