Wow. Now that's an expensive slip! Oh well, the Spirit would probably run you a couple of grand per season just to buy enough varnish to keep her looking good. Like they say, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Although I must say that if you do get one of the new daysailers, I will envy you.

Still just playing with the idea, but the concept really does fit the kind of sailing I'm mostly doing right now. I really like my current boat, but been doing quite a bit of racing this season and something faster is sounding really nice!

T,
What are you thinking? Giving up a classis to spend $200,000 more to go a little faster? Heresy!
The Alerion is a pretty thing, and the 33 in your budget area, but Alex will kick your ass and do some numbers on your likeness if you buy one. They, and the Morris, and Hinckley are absolutely beautiful, but the maintenance costs alone make them questionable unless you have decided that cost is no object. If money was no object I think these are great boats to lust over. However, I have a hard time with the fridge being a cooler that is also a step into the saloon....that really is not a saloon.
Hell, if you just want to go fast, and on one hull, and have a crew, get a J boat. The 105 is a little sparse, the 109 fits in your slip and although somewhat sparse would make a great day sailer....with crew to go fast.
Whoever gets the T34 will smile as you go by. But, at least they could not be in your marina....it is full.

Tommy- Wanna buy a nice T34C????? I actually have cocnsidered a J. Haven't seen the 109, but thinking of going to look at one! Hell, I really like the idea of converting an Etchells (sp?) into a daysailor if only it were a little bigger. While I may get some grief from Alex (Mr. Photoshop) he certainly can't hold a grudge against fast boats!!!

T,
No thanks. I am just fine with my Catalina 34 for the moment. Have to help CD represent the masses you know.
The 109 is a spruced up version of the 105. To really make them fast you need a crew, but they can be sailed short handed as well. Not going to be as comfortable as your boat in rough stuff, and creature comforts are a little short as well. But, a good compromise.
Good luck. Buying a boat is always fun. Then the work and more fun starts.

Last race of the season is tomorrow and the forcast is 10-20 kts gusting to 30. I may end up very happy that I'm sailing the boat that I am. We'll see how she does. I signed on my sailmaker as crew so hope we do well. (Who else would you pick for a trimmer!)
