Great Lakes Surveyors

We are in the process of purchasing a CR 34 and I'm interested in the group's recommendations for surveyors. The boat is located in Little Current, Ontario, which is pretty remote. I have found a surveyor in Green Bay and possibly another in northern Michigan who are willing to make the trip north.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Toronto is the closest major city to Little Current. I would think you can find someone there.

John "Mike" Dionne is located close to Charlevoix in the northren lower penninsula of Michigan. He did a survey for me a couple of years ago and I was happy with his work.

In addition, I would probably call Shepler's Marine in Mackinac City. They have a major yard, chandlery, as well as being associated with the ferry business to Mackinac Island. They could probably make some recommendations. There is also a charter company located in the North Channel, and again they would know the area and surveyors well.

sorry, a little to quick. Brain not in action at the time. Mike Dionne's number in East Jordan was 231-536-7343. I think he may still work in Florida in the winter, and his Jensen Beach number was 772-229-3090. If nothing else he could probably recommend someone in the area.

Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie are both relatively closer than any place in Michigan (unless they sail there!).

Clarke's also services that area: http://www.ontariomarinesurveyors.com/images/map.jpg

You might call people from Ontario's "cottage country" as well:

or

See http://www.harbourinsurance.ca/pm_uwm.asp and call the offices at Penetang, Thunder Bay and Owen Sound (Penetang is closest to Little Current). One of the Toronto guys, Bill Provis, is excellent and I've used him for all my steel boat needs.

Finally, check out this site: http://www.marinesurveyor.com/canada.html

I've used Peter McGuire twice with excellent results...but I don't know if he'd drive to Little Current.

Hi Charlie, my boat is also in Little Current. Our local surveyor is Gerry Montpellier. He has a good reputation. His number is 1-705-855-9363. If you have any question, send me a personal message.
